Safflower Seed Oil ( Carthamus tinctorius )
Safflower or false saffron is a plant similar to the sunflower. It has a high concentration of unsaturated fatty acids and therefore contributes greatly to the degradation of cholesterol, and is suitable also for diabetes patients – it lowers the level of blood sugar. Safflower is most commonly used against the inflammation of the gastric mucosa, bronchi, the kidneys and joints; however, it is primarily used to strengthen the circulatory system – it widens arteries and thanks to insulin regulates the level of sugar in blood. Its healing effects are knows thanks to the substance called crocetin which lowers the level of cholesterol, prevents a heart attack, reduces blood pressure, prevents hardening of veins, has diuretic and cholagogic effects and regulates the functioning of the thyroid.
